Harvest Ministries

What is “ministry?”  The Collins Dictionary says it is “the profession or duties of a minister of religion, or the performance of these duties.”

Okay…no.  That’s not what we mean by “ministries” here at Harvest.  Yes, we have ministers – two of them, to be precise.  Click here to check out who they are.

But what we mean by “ministries” at Harvest is all the good stuff God has given us to do.  The Apostle Paul wrote that “we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works which he has prepared beforehand for us to walk in them.”  THAT’S what we mean by “ministries.”  It’s all the good works that God has graciously given us to do – the ways we get to “play in His sandbox,” so to speak.

Lest you think we’re being too flippant to use a “sandbox” analogy, remember what Jesus said:  “Unless you become as little children, you cannot enter the kingdom of God.”  The Lord Himself uses the analogy of childhood as a way to help us understand who we are:  We are His children, His sons and daughters.  He is a Father who loves us and is in the process of making us more and more like Christ Jesus.

The way He does so, in part, is to give us stuff to do, good stuff – among us as a congregation, in the communities where we live, and to the world at large.  As we do the things He has given us to do, we learn more of who He is, who we are in Him, and how we enrich and bless the lives of people around us in His name.

So, welcome to our Ministries pages.  This is our sandbox!  Come on in and help us build really cool stuff!
